    My pregnancy care package is mainly focussed on Hypnobirthing and Active Birth methods. Hypnobirthing is a mental and physical birth preparation, that not only teaches you breathing & relaxation techniques, but gives you an in-depth insight about how birth works, your birth options, birth rights, about how to make informed decisions and ultimately how to reduce fear. It can work specifically towards a positive birth journey by providing you with a great understanding of your own body, the birthing muscles & hormones and how to make them work in a most efficient way. Birth preparation of all sorts can avoid birth trauma and even help the recovery from a previous traumatic birth. My postnatal care includes Mum & Baby Yoga designed for mum to regain strength after birth and to include baby in her gentle practice. A gentle Yoga practice will restore your back mobility, gently reactivate your abdominal muscles, recover your pelvic floor, stimulate digestion, release tension neck & shoulders, tone your back, regain strength & stability and rebalance your nervous system.

    Welcome to Blissful Birth

    I am Wiebke - the founder of Blissful Birth, based in Holywood, near Belfast in Northern Ireland. My positive birth journey started in 2017, with the birth of my son Odin and continued with the pregnancy and birth of my daughter Órla in 2021. Blissful Birth was originally inspired by the contrast between my two different birth experiences: one without Hypnobirthing and the other one with Hypnobirthing and then further on by my recovery after birth through Postnatal Yoga.

    Hypnobirthing

    Although both births were natural water births and very positive as well as empowering experiences, using Hypnobirthing techniques throughout my second pregnancy and birth made a huge difference to me. Hypnobirthing makes a difference to birth because it provides the tools to relax, to access a place of calm and a state of deep relaxation under any circumstances. It can also reduce the fear around giving birth. Hypnobirthing equips us with tools to connect with our inner peace, with our instincts and therefore enables us to also disconnect with any disturbances that surround us.

    It further gives us an insight about birth itself, about available options and choices around pregnancy and birth. By understanding how labour works, how your own body functions and what you need to do in order to birth comfortably you will gain great confidence in your own body and instincts. By gaining knowledge while preparing for birth, you will know exactly what to do if your birth journey takes unexpected turns (and that is natural and can always happen!). Especially Hypnobirthing as birth preparation can give us an inner trust that our wonderful body is by nature indeed perfectly prepared for birth. We naturally have all the needed hormones in place to comfortably birth our baby while remaining calm. In fact, the more relaxed we are, the better all our hormones flow and the easier we can birth our baby. Staying relaxed allows us to fully enjoy our pregnancy and empowers us to make informed, calm decisions if pregnancy or birth doesn’t go the way we’ve planned it. The knowledge you will gain in this Hypnobirthing course will also enable you to gather all the information you need in order to make even difficult decisions for yourself and your baby. Ultimately, with more knowledge about your choices and a better understanding of labour and birth itself you will reduce any fears. Hypnobirthing also brings back our primal instincts: the ability to listen to our body. To trust our body. And it brings on confidence to follow these instincts.     

    Mum & Baby Yoga

    Postnatal Yoga can be important for each mum after birth to regain strength, but also to focus on both mental and physical wellbeing. A gentle Yoga practice helps you to restore your abdominal muscles, brings organs back in place and strengthen your pelvic floor. In these Yoga sessions you will be able to connect with other mums, but also with your baby by spending relaxing, quality time with each other outside your home. Postnatal Yoga fosters a sense of community, encourages proactive self-care and provides the opportunity to practice Yoga in a baby-friendly environment.

    Support recovery & connection after pregnancy

    Not only are pregnancy and birth a big deal but also the first year of motherhood. Regardless if it is your first or your fifth baby, your body needs recovery and proactive self-care after birthing a baby. This is why I offer further support for my mums after birth by teaching Mum & Baby Yoga with focus on mums recovery: strengthen the muscles, focus on training the pelvic floor, abdominal muscles and awareness on the general physical and mental wellbeing. 

    Mum & Baby Yoga

    One of the main benefits of Mum & Baby Yoga is the community. Mum gets to meet other mums. Although we focus on our practice we also encourage social interactions and building a community within the group. After pregnancy yoga encourages proactive self-care by taking a moment for yourself, mum. To take care of yourself after birth is often overlooked in the postpartum period, but very much crucial for your own wellbeing. Postnatal yoga will help to regulate the nervous system and alleviate the stress of early motherhood. But also when your baby is a little older: Yoga builds physical strength and helps the body to recover after birth. Our gentle session tones the abs and helps the organs back into their original place. Through yoga mums regain awareness of the abdominal belt after pregnancy. After birth yoga can help to rehabilitate the pelvic floor and requires mum to tune into her own body. Yoga in a baby-friendly space provides room for mums to connect with each other.

      My partner and I did private hypnotherapy sessions with Wiebke and found them very helpful. Wiebke was warm and friendly and the course content was really effective at putting our minds at ease as first time parents, and made us feel more informed and in control of the whole birth process. The home resources and hypnotherapy audio resources were particularly useful and have been an enormous help preparing for birth. I've found with practice that they're really useful to help breathe, relax and stay calm during invasive medical exams and hospital appointments. The evening relaxation audios and daily affirmations have also helped me to set a special self-care routine during my pregnancy which have helped me feel closer and more bonded to my baby and the changes happening to my body as the pregnancy has progressed. We're currently at 37 weeks so cannot speak for the effectiveness for birthing, but my partner and I both feel much more informed and in control as Wiebke's coaching has helped us formulate a birth plan and be confident in advocating our wants and needs to medical staff. As we have been told a C Section is likely due to pregnancy complications Wiebke's help has given us the tools necessary to work together to remove the fear of the daunting surgery ahead and prioritise the health of mum and baby, meaning we're able to be excited and look forward to meeting our baby! Overall I'd highly recommend Blissful Birth to all expectant parents, especially if you are at all nervous or concerned about giving birth. We found Wiebke to be very relaxed, informed and amazing at pinpointing where our fears and anxieties were rooted and giving us the tools to overcome these and feel more in control of the process. 10/10 service and aftercare and a dear friend made for life.
